In August this year Bonhams in New York held the auction Prints & MultiplesSummer Splash, which included the work Femme au cep de vigne, 2e variante (Woman by the Grapevine, 2nd Variation) by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,536.00 (€ 1,417.10), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Berthe Morisot et sa fille, Julie Manet in May last year with an auction result of USD 24,435,000.00 (€ 22,770,478.05).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im August diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Prints & MultiplesSummer Splash durch, in der auch die Arbeit Femme au cep de vigne, 2e variante (Woman by the Grapevine, 2nd Variation) von Pierre-Auguste Renoir zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.536,00 (€ 1.417,10) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pierre-Auguste Renoir erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Berthe Morisot et sa fille, Julie Manet im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 24.435.000,00 (€ 22.770.478,05).
