Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Splotch #19 by Sol LeWitt. The price achieved of USD 75,600.00 (€ 70,450.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00. Admittedly, works by Sol LeWitt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Splotch #19 von Sol LeWitt zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 75.600,00 (€ 70.450,10) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 70.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19).
