Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 24th Street Intersection Study by Wayne Thiebaud was auctioned at Christies in New York in May this year. The price achieved of USD 504,000.00 (€ 473,061.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wayne Thiebaud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Encased Cakes in July last year with an auction result of HKD 79,200,000.00 (€ 9,882,532.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit 24th Street Intersection Study von Wayne Thiebaud kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 504.000,00 (€ 473.061,76) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wayne Thiebaud erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Encased Cakes im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 79.200.000,00 (€ 9.882.532,84).
