Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Four Cakes, from Recent Etchings I by Wayne Thiebaud was auctioned at Bonhams in May this year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 50,775.00 (€ 47,658.16). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wayne Thiebaud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Encased Cakes in July last year with an auction result of HKD 79,200,000.00 (€ 9,882,532.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Four Cakes, from Recent Etchings I von Wayne Thiebaud kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 50.775,00 (€ 47.658,16) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wayne Thiebaud erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Encased Cakes im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 79.200.000,00 (€ 9.882.532,84).
