Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Andy Warhol achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in January 2024. In the Evening & Day Editions auction, the work Details of Renaissance Paintings (Piero della Francesca, Madonna del Duca da Montefeltro, circa 1472) (see F. & S. 316A) sold for GBP 30,480.00 (€ 51,013.11) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
