In May this year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Triste by David Salle. The »bidding war« ended at USD 107,100.00 (€ 100,525.62), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by David Salle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mingus in Mexico in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 608,750.00 (€ 694,094.16).

Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Triste von David Salle zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 107.100,00 (€ 100.525,62) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Salle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mingus in Mexico im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 608.750,00 (€ 694.094,16).
