Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View of Loop Bridge Seen from Route 41 in the Seven Falls Area, from Japanese Landscapes (C. 142) by Julian Opie was auctioned at Phillips in London in January 2024. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,159.00 (€ 3,613.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julian Opie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Walking in London in the rain in June last year with an auction result of CHF 189,000.00 (€ 189,036.11).
