Auction result well in line with expectations
In May this year Bonhams held the auction Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples, which included the work Furungle 1 by Kenny Scharf. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,100.00 (€ 4,786.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kenny Scharf achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work City of the Future in May last year with an auction result of USD 983,175.00 (€ 916,200.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Furungle 1 von Kenny Scharf zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.100,00 (€ 4.786,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kenny Scharf erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit City of the Future im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 983.175,00 (€ 916.200,73).
