In April 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Untitled, from VVV Portfolio by Leonora Carrington. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,687.08), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leonora Carrington achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Garden of Paracelsus in May last year with an auction result of USD 3,256,500.00 (€ 3,034,665.92).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im April 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled, from VVV Portfolio von Leonora Carrington zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 5.250,00 (€ 4.687,08) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leonora Carrington erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Garden of Paracelsus im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.256.500,00 (€ 3.034.665,92).
