Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Chelsea Hotel) by Martin Kippenberger was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,800.00 (€ 8,896.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Kippenberger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 16,405,000.00 (€ 14,921,775.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled (Chelsea Hotel) von Martin Kippenberger kam im März 2006 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 10.800,00 (€ 8.896,94) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Martin Kippenberger erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.405.000,00 (€ 14.921.775,51).
