Signed and annotated 'H.C.' in black ink on the accompanying label (one of 2 hors commerce copies, the edition was 24 and 4 artist's proofs), published by Edition Schellmann, Munich and New York.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Before the Word there was Light, after the Word there will be Light by Nam June Paik was auctioned at Phillips in London in January 2024. The price achieved of GBP 17,780.00 (€ 29,757.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nam June Paik achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fat Boy in October 2016 with an auction result of HKD 4,280,000.00 (€ 503,667.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Before the Word there was Light, after the Word there will be Light von Nam June Paik kam im Januar 2024 bei Phillips in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 17.780,00 (€ 29.757,65) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nam June Paik erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fat Boy im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 4.280.000,00 (€ 503.667,21).
