Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Roy Lichtenstein achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2021. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Crying Girl (C. Ii.1) sold for USD 138,600.00 (€ 113,662.46) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roy Lichtenstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nurse in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 95,365,000.00 (€ 90,290,664.65).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Roy Lichtenstein erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Crying Girl (C. Ii.1) für USD 138.600,00 (€ 113.662,46) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roy Lichtenstein erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nurse im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 95.365.000,00 (€ 90.290.664,65).
