Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Thomas Hart Benton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in October this year. In the Prints & Multiples auction, the work Coming 'round the Mountain (Missouri Musicians) sold for USD 6,144.00 (€ 5,813.78) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Hart Benton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nashaquitsa in November last year with an auction result of USD 5,580,000.00 (€ 5,405,405.41).
