Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2021 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Stranger Study #31 by Glenn Ligon. Here, the upper estimate of USD 500,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 562,500.00 (€ 498,360.95). Admittedly, works by Glenn Ligon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (I Was Somebody) in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 3,973,000.00 (€ 3,194,243.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Stranger Study #31 von Glenn Ligon zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 500.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 562.500,00 (€ 498.360,95) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Glenn Ligon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (I Was Somebody) im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.973.000,00 (€ 3.194.243,45).
