Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Gisele Bündchen, NYC by Mark Seliger was auctioned at Phillips in London in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,651.00 (€ 2,763.21). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Seliger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work President Barack Obama, Washington, DC, 2010 in June 2020 with an auction result of USD 37,500.00 (€ 33,389.72).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Gisele Bündchen, NYC von Mark Seliger im Januar 2024 bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.651,00 (€ 2.763,21) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mark Seliger erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit President Barack Obama, Washington, DC, 2010 im Juni 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 33.389,72).
