This artwork by Sol LeWitt achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in June this year. In the Evening & Day Editions auction, the work Whirls and Twirls (Color) (K. 2005.03) sold for GBP 10,795.00 (€ 12,563.52) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sol LeWitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 80 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sol LeWitt erzielte im Juni diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Evening & Day Editions wurde die Arbeit Whirls and Twirls (Color) (K. 2005.03) für GBP 10.795,00 (€ 12.563,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19).
