In November 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Pumpkin by Yayoi Kusama. The »bidding war« ended at USD 98,500.00 (€ 75,710.99), 64% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yayoi Kusama achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pumpkin in April this year with an auction result of HKD 30,000,000.00 (€ 30,635,869.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im November 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pumpkin von Yayoi Kusama zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 98.500,00 (€ 75.710,99) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yayoi Kusama erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pumpkin im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 30.000.000,00 (€ 30.635.869,57).
