This artwork by Ad Reinhardt achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2017. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work No. 12 sold for USD 1,155,000.00 (€ 970,751.39) - well above the upper estimate of USD 600,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ad Reinhardt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Abstract Painting, Blue, 1953 in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 4,981,000.00 (€ 4,004,663.13).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Ad Reinhardt erzielte im November 2017 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction wurde die Arbeit No. 12 für USD 1.155.000,00 (€ 970.751,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 600.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ad Reinhardt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Abstract Painting, Blue, 1953 im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.981.000,00 (€ 4.004.663,13).
