Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Brice Marden achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in September this year. In the Evening & Day Editions auction, the work Red Line Muses (State) (G. 1874) sold for GBP 17,780.00 (€ 17,780.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Brice Marden achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 11 (to Léger) in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 16,999,000.00 (€ 15,060,689.29).
