The work Deuxième version du triptyque 1944 (Large Version) (after, Second Version of the Triptych, 1944) (S. 24, T. 25) by Francis Bacon was sold in the Evening & Day Editions auction at Phillips in London in June last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 56,700.00 (€ 65,869.27), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Bacon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three Studies Of Lucian Freud in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 142,405,000.00 (€ 104,663,383.80).
