Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by James Rosenquist could be acquired at Phillips in New York in October this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work The Prickly Dark (G. 212) changed hands for USD 1,143.00 (€ 1,081.57) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Rosenquist achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Director in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 3,135,000.00 (€ 2,811,911.38).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von James Rosenquist konnte im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper wechselte die Arbeit The Prickly Dark (G. 212) für USD 1.143,00 (€ 1.081,57) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Rosenquist erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Director im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.135.000,00 (€ 2.811.911,38).
