Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Blink by John McCracken was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,720.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John McCracken achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 965,000.00 (€ 913,652.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Blink von John McCracken kam im November 2019 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.720,21) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John McCracken erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 965.000,00 (€ 913.652,72).
