linocut in black and tan, 1962, on Arches, signed in pencil, numbered 28/50 (there were also 25 artist's proofs), published by Galerie L. Leiris, Paris, 1963, with full margins, the palest light- and mat staining, an unobtrusive soft handling crease in the upper right rim of the subject's hat, a few pale foxmarks in places in the margins, otherwise in very good condition, framed

This artwork by Pablo Picasso achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April 2010. In the Prints & Multiples auction, the work Grande Tête de Femme au Chapeau orné (B. 1077; Ba. 1317) sold for USD 218,500.00 (€ 164,261.01) - well above the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pablo Picasso achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Les femmes d'Alger (Version 'O') in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 179,365,000.00 (€ 163,148,080.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 82 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Pablo Picasso erzielte im April 2010 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints & Multiples wurde die Arbeit Grande Tête de Femme au Chapeau orné (B. 1077; Ba. 1317) für USD 218.500,00 (€ 164.261,01) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 120.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pablo Picasso erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Les femmes d'Alger (Version 'O') im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 179.365.000,00 (€ 163.148.080,77).
