three-dimensional lithograph in colors on wove paper, 1987, signed in red crayon, numbered 75/75 (there were also 10 artist's proofs) published by Sharks Lithography Ltd, Boulder, Colorado, apparently in very good condition, not examined out of the original Plexiglas case

Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work De Kooning Breaks Through by Red Grooms was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,500.00 (€ 1,316.94). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Red Grooms achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 83,382.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit De Kooning Breaks Through von Red Grooms im März 2016 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.500,00 (€ 1.316,94) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Red Grooms erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.500,00 (€ 83.382,61).
