Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Triangle; Square; Pentagon; Octagon; and Nonagon, from Polygons (S. 85-87, 90-91) by Robert Indiana. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,890.00 (€ 8,052.54) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Indiana achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Love in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 3,495,000.00 (€ 3,086,637.82).
