Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Africa 6, from Africa Suite (E. & B. 74) by Robert Motherwell. It changed hands for a price of USD 2,794.00 (€ 2,530.80) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Motherwell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work At Five in the Afternoon in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 12,690,000.00 (€ 10,874,035.99).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Africa 6, from Africa Suite (E. & B. 74) von Robert Motherwell zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 2.794,00 (€ 2.530,80) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Motherwell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit At Five in the Afternoon im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.690.000,00 (€ 10.874.035,99).
