Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Inside the Castle, from Illustrations for Six Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm (S.A.C. 96, M.C.A.T. 93) by David Hockney was auctioned at Phillips in New York in April this year. It achieved a price of USD 4,064.00 (€ 3,681.16), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 16%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).
