Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Director's Chair by David Hockney was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Christies in New York in November this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 138,600.00 (€ 127,062.71) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).

Die Arbeit The Director's Chair von David Hockney wurde im November diesen Jahres in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 138.600,00 (€ 127.062,71) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Hockney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nichols Canyon im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 41.067.500,00 (€ 33.579.313,16).
