Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Kara Walker achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in October 2020. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work The Emancipation Approximation (scene #18) sold for USD 30,240.00 (€ 25,963.77) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kara Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Negress Notes in May last year with an auction result of USD 529,200.00 (€ 493,150.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Kara Walker erzielte im Oktober 2020 bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper wurde die Arbeit The Emancipation Approximation (scene #18) für USD 30.240,00 (€ 25.963,77) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kara Walker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Negress Notes im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 529.200,00 (€ 493.150,68).
