Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled; and Untitled by Sue Williams was auctioned at Phillips in New York in April this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 953.00 (€ 863.22). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sue Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New Yellow and Orange in September this year with an auction result of USD 127,000.00 (€ 119,992.44).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled; and Untitled von Sue Williams im April diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 953,00 (€ 863,22) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sue Williams erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit New Yellow and Orange im September diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 127.000,00 (€ 119.992,44).
