Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work John Brown (Cole 34; Czestochowski 35) by John Steuart Curry. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,360.00 (€ 2,648.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Steuart Curry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Preliminary Study for a Mural: Oklahoma Land Rush in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 175,500.00 (€ 149,158.59).
