Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Black Supper I-V by Andres Serrano was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 125,000.00 (€ 96,242.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Andres Serrano - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Piss Christ, which sold at auction in November 2011 for USD 314,500.00 (€ 233,776.85).
