Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Howardena Pindell could be acquired at Phillips in New York in April last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work Kyoto (Positive/Negative) changed hands for USD 4,410.00 (€ 4,185.25) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Howardena Pindell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November this year with an auction result of USD 1,502,000.00 (€ 1,376,971.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Howardena Pindell konnte im April letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper wechselte die Arbeit Kyoto (Positive/Negative) für USD 4.410,00 (€ 4.185,25) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Howardena Pindell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.502.000,00 (€ 1.376.971,03).
